My piston/slide is totally black, the dealers mechanics told me it was molyibdenim to help it slide in the bore of the carb, but i thought it was funny that when i soaked it in white vinegar (I use vinegar to clean the carbs, the acetic acid is mild and you can literally dunk the whole works and it doesnt hurt the rubbers plus it costs about 50 cents a litre. takes about 2 hours to soak off all the greenies in the bowl/jets.)Anyways, I thought it was funny that the slide came clean on one side. I wonder if it's water/fuel vapour building up & corroding..... let me know if you find out. I have a minor problem with mine that it bucks on the highway, everytime i clean the slide it goes away for 2 or 3 days then it comes back, I clean it and another 3 days.... etc. Needles to say there is a 10mm ratchet and a phillips screwdriver under the toolbox cover. thanks.
